Poor Bully
Dear Bencher Lean,
A young lawyer (2018 call) debriefed about a troubling experience on #LawTwitter, seeking feedback from fellow licensees. He graciously refused to mention any names. Many lawyers encouraged him to file a formal complaint.
Accountability is not an attack.
Meanwhile, you proceed to OUT YOURSELF by writing an inflammatory The Lawyer’s Daily column??? You (tried) dragging his name and credibility, and portrayed yourself as a victim of “social media bullying.” To borrow a rhetorical device from D. Jared Brown (bencher).
ASK YOURSELF: Why did public reaction to tweets about a nameless person make you so uncomfortable?
ASK YOURSELF: Did you recognize yourself in the nameless person?
ASK YOURSELF: Are you ashamed because you’re wrong?
Instead, your cronies are trying to use this “incident” as justification to dismantle equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
Although the Fagan/Brown motions did not come to fruition, this kerfuffle has distracted from the important work of Convocation. To echo the words of Julian Falconer, this has been a sad day for @lawsocietylso.
